ACE PERFORMANCE ZX14 Project Bike
Ace Performance is doing a stage 1 Kawasaki Zx14
our goal is to go over 200 MPH at Maxton or Texas mile N.A.
We just droped the motor today and looks like there is some good MPH to be gained
actually I think in the area of 12 MPH
This bike will be faster all around and will pull much harder thru the gears
and not so lazy in the upper gears.
Here are some pics of our project bike.
There will be more to come by the end of the week
I will be porting the head this week and waiting on parts so we should have it
ready to tune next weekend.
Sal.

Rich I would have fit you in our trailer too bad we did not think about it then
A couple of the Texas guys are sending stuff to me.
As of (now) the owner wants to run on motor 200 mph
maybe before we go to Maxton or Texas we can talk him into runing some nitrous.

Hey Sal, im sure you will have it going 200+ you guys at Ace seem to be pretty good at that . Just curious as to whats going into the bike for aftermarket parts? how will the motor be set up? compression ratio, cam timing ect ect (if its not too top secret) what type of a nitrous setup would you be wanting to put on it, and how would you change the motor setup (if any) if you did? srry for all the questions, but its not every day i get to bug the experts on my favourite topic

KZ, no offense but Sal probably won't divulge much of the info, its his competitive advantage that gives him the edge to break records...he shares some info but not all.
If I were to simply go out on a limb I would imagine cams would be degreed, compression bumped up, specific porting, etc. The ol' saying of "gotta pay to play" comes to mind! Sal helps a lot of guys, even non-ACE guys but he won't give away specific secrets he's worked hard at discovering and uncovering. W/this specific set-up I would presume stock pistons/rods/crank...and thats only because we've seen the 1287s from his camp get it done...with 65 more ccs I would imagine one could keep it slightly more tame yet run similar numbers.

Sal.
Now is that the owner will run over 200 on motor,
or you will get it over, cause your one fast -smooth ridin' mutha!
How big is the owner, and has he/she done any LSR already,
that is the key factor that you have proven over and over?
One thing I have learned about this stuff is HP is great, but even 500hp doesn't
guarentee over you'll go 200mph, it takes a smooth, calm, smart rider too.
Keep up the great work, we'll talk soon.

Im just trying to learn as much as possible. price is irrelevent since i do all my own work. usually figuring it out as i go. i built/tuned(i still need to finishing mapping) my 1287 and made a custom nitrous setup based on what i have been told by guys who know a lot more than i do. figuring out how to build a fast bike is allmost as much fun as driving one for me, and when you drive something you built yourself, it just makes it that much sweeter.
so if he only gives out top secret info to ACE guys, i wonder if hes hiring? i dont mind moving :P

It's funny you said "lazy in the upper gears" Sal because that's been Zack's biggest complaint yet about his 14.
The bike will fly thru the gears but at Maxton he says he can eat a hot dog after he gets in 6th 'cause it accelerates so slow.........lazy, just like you said.
His best at Maxton was a 199.3mph and we thought maybe his small diameter mid pipe Muzzy was the culprit so he swapped out my Brock Gen. 3 for the last meet but he never broke 200.
We'll be watching your build up for sure.

I am waiting on OEM head gasket, BMC air filter, new chain valve seals, velocity stacks,
and cam sprockets to degree his stock cams.
This bike is his daily driver so we are doing a very streetable setup only bumping
compression a 1/2 point wich should be milled only 0.007" also removing butterflys.
I looked at the head and needs attention starting right at the boots all the way down to
the bowls.
I will take some measurements figure in motor size and were this bikes RPM's are
going to be at and then do my thing.
Finish it up with a REAL WORLD TUNE.

The owner is 185 lbs I just met him so I do not know how he rides only that he has been riding for 30 years I told him I would be able to hit 200 + mph on his at Maxton / Texas
200mph for him that would depend on his riding skill.
Whatever I run or the owner runs will be slower here due to heat and humidity as soon as you get out of this swamp air we pick up 3-4 mph.

Dan,
First off thank's again for recomending me to this customer he is a cool guy !
He actually came in to get a speedo healer installed and a real world tune
next thing he said was I want to take it to Maxton or Texas and go 200 mph
and I told him its not going to happen he asked me a few questions an we decieded
to do the stage 1 package to try and achieve his goal of 200 mph.
As far as upper gear pull I rode a couple of the Zx14's and same thing on both I
cant wait to see the difference with this bike !

If my memory serves me correctly, I believe that beautiful 12R had degreed cams, compression, and perhaps a light cleanup on the head as well.
I could be wrong, I'm sure Mr.Millholland can get into specifics.
One thing is for sure, I'm looking forward to the day he brings that baby back to Maxton! We need more fast 12's out there.... our numbers are dropping faster than current gas prices!
