Kawasaki releases all-new ZX-10R for 2008

The rumors are true! Details are few and far between - note all the "TBD"s in the spec sheet. Controversial styling cues? Time will tell... Note the mirror mounted turnsignals and the redesigned brake calipers. Yes, it's the real thing.

See below for hi-res photos and specs...

A QUICK LOOK AT KAWASAKI'S NEW 2008 NINJA® ZX™-10R

Factory Superbike Talent in a Street Savvy Performer

For the 2008 NINJA® ZX™-10R, Kawasaki engineers aimed for an ideal superbike with engine and chassis performance capable of satisfying professional racers, combined with top-notch streetbike qualities for mainstream riders. It's a delicate balance, but these aren't your average engineers. They've been directly involved in the development of every 600 and 1000cc supersport machine since the 2003 Ninja ZX-6R, plus Kawasaki's factory Superbike racing efforts, so they have the know-how to deliver the goods.

The result is an exceptionally communicative machine that provides the clean two-way rider and machine dialog demanded by professional racers. Placing the ZX-10R in the racing crucible and applying lessons from that unforgiving environment resulted in an ideal balance to satisfy the most demanding of riders.

Kawasaki engineers relied on the assistance of a professional Superbike rider to push the new ZX-10R's engine and frame components to the limits in actual competition. Parts that met with the racer's approval were then tried on the production test bike, tweaked, retested on the race bike and adjusted again. This process was repeated throughout the development cycle for the all-new 2008 Ninja ZX-10R.

Actually since we have the new hi-res pics it doesn't look too bad. EXCEPT for those mirrors/turn signals, they are ugly.

sorry but i dont like it, the mirrors are gawdy with the turn signal mounted down the stem. The pillion seat looks about 8" higher than the drivers...Whats that abortion they call an exhaust?? It looked much better tucked up by the seat, imho...

At least the 08 CBR1000 has the turn signals in the mirrors not like this thing. You have to wonder who designs the minor points like this for kawasaki. They should be fired!!

I can see the Separation between Kawasaki and Suzuki came too late for the Muffler! At least the Kawasaki only has "1" where the Suzzy has "2"! Nice Bike otherwise

At least they did away with the under-seat exhaust. From an engineering standpoint under-seat exhausts make no sense. It puts weight high and to the rear of the bike. The weight should be low and as close to the Cg as possible. Also it puts many additional curves in the exhaust path and makes a much longer path for the exhaust to exit. Like the single sided swing arm the under-seat exhausts are headed for the nostalgia heap.
A sweet looking bike.

Kawi could give a shit about drag racing this bike. Superbike racing is what this is for.
The 14 is for the straight line crowd.

+1

Wasn't built for the drags. Regarding "ugly bike", please understand it wasn't built for posers either :P

This bike is strictly for the race track.

Having one exhaust is a huge plus. The first thing a serious rider removes after a bike purchase is the exhaust. Of course my 14 had "two" and due to that design there's a gaping hole on the left side.

Of course the gixxer 1000 is better suited with 2 "cool-looking" aftermarket slip-ons anyway :P

Regarding ugly, it wasn't built for posers? Those mirrors and turn signals have nothing to do with posers. They are UGLY!!!!!

Ok I just got off the phone with Kawasaki! They told me that once they finished the bike, They noticed that there were no turn signals for the front so they had to stick them on the easiest place which is why that would be the first thing to go in my book!

It's official, all the Literbikes for 2008 are ugly(except the MV).

Onto something important, can't wait to see how they measure up in performance, we only have about 6-7 more months until we get some solid numbers and back-to-back comparisons.
