I registered with the return link a few days ago.
When I got to work there was a return email from 9/7 so I clicked it and it wont let me re-register
My username on the return email registration (I did days ago)was SoCalZX14, when I went to register again it said that name was already taken so I assumed I was registered.
I was thew first on this thread and registered as soon as I read it (9/7)
So where do you use your username and pass?
I went to site to see if my registration worked and there wasn't anywhere to use a username and pass.

You're already registered...there will be other areas soon where you'll need your name and password!

Ok Cool
Thank you
How did you get hooked up with Autoland anyway?
Do they suspensions for trucks? I have a 2003 GMC Denali truck with 4 wheel steering and AWD I want to put a camper on but the GVWR will only allow 1000 Lbs. I'm looking for a place to get it beefed up. Engine and suspension. I would trade it in but they dont offer 4W steering anymore.

I own Autoland, but I think you have us confused with Autoland in California (autoland.com). We are in Canada (autoland.,ca), We are distributors of mobile electronics products like remote starters, Garmin & Lowrance GPS nav systems, vehicle & motorcycle/ATV/Snowmobile/PWC security systems, wiring software, etc...we also manufacture some of our own lines. We don't do automotive parts liek what you are looking at though. sorry dude!

On another note, we are fully allocated now on the alarm evaulation units. We aren't taking anymore applications, however it seems as if most of you will be getting your units. You'll all be getting a call by Friday of this week. Thanks to all of you for participating!

Well in that case, lemme ask this question.
(I have sent garmin this question and there was no reply after waiting 2 weeks.)
I have a GPSMAP 60csx that I run on alkaline AA batteries. I tryed the "new" L91 Lithium AA non-rechargable batteries in it because they are reported to last 7X longer. After installing the batteries and turning the unit on, the screen starts to come on then immediately fades away turning the unit off. I tried different L91's and the unit just wont stay on for more than 3 seconds.
Have you heard of this being an issue?
The L91's have a no load voltage of 1.8 V.
The Alkalines have a no-load voltage of 1.6 V.
I wonder if the approx 1/2 volt difference (2 batts) is more than the unit is designed for.
I sure would like to change batts less often, I thought the Lithiums would be the answer for me plus there are rated for low temperature down to -40 F.
Sorry for being off topic here, just thought I'd take a shot and ask.

Nope...thats not the problem...they regulate the input voltage from the battery. Dumb question though, you did check the batt voltage? I just can't believe that the unit would exhibit that from a good battery, no matter what type of battery composition. You sure that the unit isn't the issue? We have had the odd one do bizzare things...not the norm but -- shit happens. Here's what I would do...go to the store where you got it from and try another unit...it could be a unit issue. Call me if you need help, my number's in the e-mail you got from us or PM me for it, glad to help a brother! I'm at X225. I answer 24/7

Yes I did check battery voltage and the results are as discribed above. Those were measured. The unit also has a setup feature where you can tell it what type of battery you are using. If the voltage is regulated by the unit i wonder why they want you to go into setup and pick the type of battery you are using. The choices are: Alkaline, NiCad or Lithium ion.
It seems they were planning on using LI for a supply, I will take your advise and see what happenes on a different unit.
2 brains are better than one.
Thx.

You try all of the settings for battery type? It has nothing to do with voltage regulation -- it's for energy conservation if I remember correctly. Also, an unloaded battery doesn't tell the true story, but if you say you tried several sets, they must be ok I would think...they have a 10-year shelf life.

UPDATE.

I just got the answer back from Garmin. Their engineers say the Lithium voltage is more than the unit was designed for so use alkaline or NiCad. They tried the Lithiums and had same experience I did.
Here it is.

Thank you for contacting Garmin International!

I am happy to help you with this. After reviewing the properties of Lithium batteries and having tested their use in the GPSMAP 60Cx/CSx, our engineers have determined that attempts to alter/update the firmware will not eliminate shutdowns due higher voltages measured on new Lithium batteries. As you stated the new lithium batteries are provided more voltage than can be accepted by the GPS. Once the batteries have drained for a few minutes they will be within the proper range. Use of Alkaline and NiMH batteries is the recommended and best solution.

If you have any additional comments or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via email or at the number listed below.

Every DC power supply has an an acceptable high/low input range, or tolerance, for the acceptable output range. Even if the input voltage must be regulated to meet specs.
It amazes me the Garmin product can't accept the variety of common power sources available on the market (in this day and age)- without failing.

Back on topic: FBA I look forward to evaluating your new alarm system using the battery that came with my bike!

Ya, I like the "Once the batteries have drained for a few minutes they will be within the proper range" statement.
So lemme thinks here, I have to buy batteries that I wanted for their longer life, drain them for as long as it takes to scrub off 2-3 tenths of a volt then my "used to be" longer lasting batteries will work.
That is friggin great.
Well I love the unit and maybe I will start to log the alkaline duty length against the drained Lithium duty length and if it is worth the time to drain the batteries Maybe I will.
Now I have to carry a flashlight that takes 2 AA batteries with me. lol

Also, I was kinda curious on the registration. It kept giving me an error on the 'model' until I filled in all six of the blanks. Hoe it doesn't want me to pay shipping on 6 alarms. LOL
Anyway, thought that was odd, but it was the only way it would accept it.

Thanks for pointing that out, we were having the same issue with someone else and we didn't understand why..you just made me understand now. The shipping costs are marginal...if you want to do paypal, I believe we can work it out...my wife has a paypal account we can probably use. You won't get charged shipping for 6 alarms...not to worry there buddy!

Just say some of it is for her motorcycle and you should be golden. I ask my wife for her opinion on parts and as long as some come to her toys too, I can buy ALMOST anything I like. How do you think I got to buy a 14 when we already had 6 other motorcycles sitting in the garage! Now we are down to 3 but that's just a "fire sale" at work.

Now if I can only thin the heard by another 8-9 vehicles I can look for new toys . . .

Thanks for clearing that up SoCal....we just starting calling today...shipping out everything by Thursday/Friday...I have demand for 54 units and have only 50...still we are going to try to get one to everyone though...some people ordered 2 and more for multiple vehicles. Some of you forgot to click the link in the 1st e-mail and enter the bike info, so you're S.O.L now...but there were only 2 like that. Regardless, you will all get called one way or the other. Sorry for the delays, but there was much last minute shit to do to get the program and product ready for field testing, and it's a miniscule portion of our business...nevertheless we really need the feedback, so we're all over this thing. When you get a call and if we have to leave you a message, please call us back ASAP so we can finish up the process. Please don't bug us with paypal or cheques, give us a credit card...we're talking about a few measly dollars for the shipping and we don't fuck with people's money...it's not like we're going to make money shipping 50 units...we''re giving away over 20K worth of product.
