Ninjaboy311- great write up and photos on your latest upgrade!!! With all of the repeat threads and the ones that spark peoples temperment, it's cool to see a thread that has value for most. Good luck with your testing and keep the info coming. I personally shift between making my bike go faster and upgrading the looks. By the looks of the retrofit, this is an easy to moderate mod...

Well, I ordered them and should have them this week. I'll also report my results when I can test them out.

Shane- Ninja311- mentioned he got the short stacks, are you getting the taller ones(that improves med-range)? Or are you going with the same setup(using the smaller ones)?

I also went with the shorter ones. I had short Bear stacks on my 12R with good results.

I intend to run the bike for top speed a few times, so I would rather focus the power at the top of the powerband. I think I can spare a couple of hp in the midrange, even at the dragstrip.

If the stacks are truly good for 4-5 hp on the dyno, they will be worth more than that at 190 mph. Even 4-5 hp would be significant in the mile. A single mph can be hard to come by sometimes.

3-4mph more after teh 8th with 4 hp? Mr9 dosent even give you those gains after the 1/8th, i'm sorry i think its nice that youre testing them out and its great and all but something else must of changed i possibly cannot see 3-4mph more from just velocity stacks, did you loose mph in the 1/8th? sometimes if you run slower 1/8th mile you gain more then you usually do when you run high mph. Ive been 116mph and 147 1/4, then last night bike made alot more power 122 1/8th and 149.5 1/4

You guys have to keep in mind, the dyno showed 4 to 5 hp without ram air, so with ram air these stacks could be picking up a lot more than 4 to 5 hp over the stock ones. I have the short ones installed also, haven't been to the track to test yet.

According to my logbook, in June it was 85% humidity, 84 degrees, 5 MPH Tail wind, DA was 2800 ft.
Friday night, it was 95% humidity, 3300 DA, 0 wind, 80 degrees.

What was the BP?

If you gained that much from them, I need to get them to make a set for the ZX12.

I gained with the Bear stacks, but not that much......

Thats a TON of hp gain on the top end. The stock stacks must really suck.

I am going to call Schnitz today and check availability. I am thinking of giving them a try.

I have a data logger on the bike. I would like to see how they affect a/f and mph. I might just change them out at the track and compare results.

Thanks for taking the time to update your findings.

I never did install them....

However, the person I sold them to had positive feedback about them. I am now looking at the Big CC Racing stacks.

I'm sorry I can't offer up any more info...

Wwwdahoda blew thru the door to the big room faster? Do I see she took the shortest path of air into the chamber? Time that for me. I am going to make the engine turn or light off that much sooner is least path to resistance is around an intake boot.

Eyes rest my wrench is when is lunch? OH look, beer an nuts! Early Brake Fast?

translation: him and his Dyno are going to check the before and after on the short and long stacks to see the torque and hp gains

the only reason I even have a clue is because I worked 16 years in a prison and talk to throwed off folks daily....then I leave turnout and go deal with the inmates.....

I don't think the dyno will tell the real story on these. Mph at the track is the real test.

A good testament to them working can be found here:

http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=13&TID=42923&pagenumber=1

I can't say how well they work on a totally stock motor, however.

UPDATE 7/26/08!!!!!!!

Boy do I feel like a dumbass. I had a feeling that something just wasn't right after the installation. Retarded as it may sound, I had kept the stock seals in place. No wonder the stacks didn't push all the way onto the throttlebodies. DOH!!!!!

Just got back from tearing it all apart again and doing it the right way. Stock seals DO NOT GET RE-USED!!!! My mistake. There weren't any instructions that came with it so what do I know??? I'm not a mechanic, I just like to go fast.

Anyways, here's the new updated pics of the correct installation. Next Friday we'll get to see if they make a diference.

Good info NinjaBoy. I was installing the stacks today and this was my next question regarding the seals. I'm glad u posted these pics because I was wondering whether I was suppose to reinstall the stock seals, (the 2 rubber flat pieces that lay on top inside of the airbox that have 2 holes apiece for the stacks to go through). Appreciate Shane fwd'n me your thread.
