14R stock exhaust no cans So i was cleaning up all the excess grease that the new chain through everywhere and decided to make a couple of videos of the stock exhaust with out the cans. Honestly it doesnt sound as bad as i thought it would. I might just leave them off till my Blue CT comes in, hopefully the end of this week.
The second video is the bike warmed up at idle

No offense, but every time I hear bikes going down the road with no exhaust I'm thinking "that sounds like a piece of junk"...It just makes them sound awful IMO...

There is still a catalytic converter in the link pipe which will baffle the noise, that's why it sounds fairly quiet.

I have NO cat in my US model head pipe...................
Because of that, I think that slipons would be a good choice for someone that is not an all-out drag racer.

You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Has anyone actually seen the converter in the header mid section? I thought they were just in the mufflers.
I'm talking about the 14R
So am I.
To be clear, my 2012 ZX-14R does not have a cat in the headpipe.

So I am correct they are only in the mufflers. Some others on this forum think they are in the midsection right before the Y.

My 08 was like that.

Yes, I think people are mixing the Gen1s with the Gen2 14R. If someone would just have a mid section made where we could cut the stock one insert the new midpipe and then put a single slip on it would be great. A guy in Australia did for the BKings and a Brocks slip on worked great and they even made a jig.

in case there are some minds out there still wondering about about cats for the 2012 14r...
there is a honeycomb catalyst in the collector and one in each muffler at the base where the mid pipe connects to the muffler...

As huge as the 14R's cans are you'd think they had everything but the kitchen sink thrown in there lol. But as the euro emissions tiers get tighter (and US as well) they have to do more and more to control emissions. Thats why they had to put a cat in the header and screw with the fueling on the 08's and up, to meet the new emissions. I'm sure the 14R also has the cat in the collector as well. They had to meet even stricter emissions again last year I believe. Which is probably why the new 14's cans are so huge. I'm just glad they didn't neuter the 14R bigtime like they did the 2011 zx10

No, there is NOT a cat in the collector, at least not in mine.
