So where's the extra 20 lbs. on the '12?
We know the '12 14R weighs 17 lbs. more than the '11.....584 vs. 567 wet, according to the reviews. We also know the wheels are 3 lbs. lighter, so the rest of the bike gained 20 lbs. The '12 mufflers are huge but I can't imagine they are 20 lbs. heavier than the previous big mufflers. The frame has been stiffened and we now have TC, but is their much additional weight there?
Anyone?

Mufflers are the bulk of it. Also the radiator is larger and there is an additional fan for a total of two. Maybe a little weight in the frame, but I can't see that adding up to much. Also the addition of the slipper style clutch and traction control. All that easily adds up to 17 pounds.

Bigger crank Mains and Rod pins
beafer, longer Rods, 3 mm.
Taller deck ,4mm,
larger ex Valves
Bigger Cams, .366" lift and springs
2nd Fan,
Larger Rad
Emission hoses , aircontrol switchs, , plus wiring ,
Mufflers ,,
Clutch , 6th spring and perch, bolt and washer
slipper-clutch springs,
oil squiters and line
TC and a Horn relay and wiring
Larger Air Filter
it all Adds up.

the 2000 zx12r was 462 dry if i remember correct.

you do know a busa has gone faster than any motorcycle .. just wanted you to know that .. maybe with the right clutch mod you could do 316mph
