16/43 Gearing for the street...?

Thinking of going to 16/43 gearing from stock strictly for street riding. Interested in any pros or cons anyone has if you have this gearing combo on your bike now.....?

Damn would yall just grow up you both are right, 06-11 speedo works differently than 2012. 2012 is not affected by gear changes speedo is ran by wheel sensors. If you don't agree there is no need in calling people out of there name, that what starts all these back and forth exchanges. Some of the new bikes have reported issues with the 16t front gear but the majority of us are loving our gear changes. I actually run a 16/44 on my setup

The speedo reads from the rear wheel sensor only if we are being pedantic dumbass

I used vortec for my front and rear. I hear that the Kawasaki 16t is the better gear. Up to 8" I didn't need to change my line. When I put my evil arm on and went to 10" I put a braided line on. I think it's 36" but it is longer than needed.

i take back my earlier response (thought you had 1st gen zx14). if your going stock wheelbase i wouldnt go 16-43 i would only go down on front sprocket. the bike has so much tq it would be useless. as a matter of a fact i wouldnt change gearing on swb. if you going to extend 16-43 will work. im currently running 16-44. seems pretty good.

GixxerJohn is wright about this one.The new bike is different then the old one on gearing change.I had 16/41 and 16/43 on my 09.Took the 43 off after I went to the 55 series rear tire and it's only 2 miles off.Miss the killer midreange.Going to top the bike out then put the 43 back on.It's a black hardened alluminum Vortex. Not worrying about wear, just buy another. Will check the speed on the gearing commander site. Then put my speedohealer back on.Want to see what it's like after my tune.

16/43 gearing for the zx14r

I have a 2014 Kawasaki zx14r with a 16/43 tooth gearing setup. Phenomenal roll-on acceleration from 30 - 120mph. Been riding 35 years; scares the hell out of me, but oh so fun. I'm a big guy @ 6'4" and 290 lbs. Third gear has the front wheel skating about 1" off the ground (with my fat ass on it). Not for the faint of heart. Also, this combo totally eliminates the dreaded surge known on the 14's sprocket changes. Apparently the -1 front offsets the +1 rear and eliminates the stutter. I started out with just the +1 rear and had a slight stutter @ 3-5K.
