Dougs Garage Sale - 1340 engine

Complete ZX-12A1 (pre-production) engine, disassembled but entirely complete.

NOTE: This is not THE engine that was in the 2001 205mph record setting bike that I rode, but is essentially the same spec as that one. The record bike engine was not a pre production 2000 but was based on a production 2001 engine. Most of the parts would be the same except the head, but I believe this head would be superior.

Includes a new (in the box) crank, stroked +3.1mm (Marine Cranks)

Freshly bored and plated 85mm cylinder. NOT included are a matching set of 85mm pistons, but a set of new, custom dome, max compression, 83 mm (stock bore) JE pistons are included (but w/o matching cylinder). The 83mm pistons will yield a 1265 cc, the 85 mm pistons will yield a 1340. The correct 85mm pistons are easily obtained from JE, and I can specify the correct configuration for you.

One set of Falicon "knife" rods and fit bearings.

The cylinder head is professionally ported and, in my opinion, probably the finest head ever done for a ZX-12. Flows 225 CFM @.400" (25" H2o, all ports matching), fresh valve job and surface. The exhaust flows 140 cfm and all ports are matched.

There are three cams, two inlet and one exhaust. One inlet is a custom ground .410 lift 264 deg (@1mm) duration. (Patterned after a 1.5 liter F-2 car cam), the other are a pair of Muzzy custom ground cams (best described as prototypes for the Muzy ZX-12 Race Cams).

Two complete Fuel injector racks, one stock and one with SL4M-370(cc) RC injectors.
The following is a list of spares also included:
1 "Bonneville Special" swing arm, lead filled weighs approx. 40 pounds
21175-1069 ECU
1 Gear position sensor
1 Speedometer sensor
1 Cam position sensor
1 Fuel pump relay
1 Manifold pressure sensor
1 PCIII Power Commander
1 Muzzy adjustable advancer
3 Complete clutches
2 Base gaskets
3 Head Gaskets
3 Sump Gaskets
3 Clutch cover gaskets
3 Tappets
2 Cam chain guides
18 Inlet valve springs
8 Exhaust valve springs
6 Keepers
16 Stem seals
24 Exhaust valves
7mm external headbolts (unique to this engine)
3 (1set) Shift forks
25 Misc Main Bearing shells Blu /Brn/Blk
1 Set Blue rod bearings
1 Set Brown rod bearings
16T C/S sprocket

Price: $5,000. Complete lot only . Buyer pays shipping.
To put this in perspective, at retail, the crank alone would cost nearly $2000 including the core. I paid $2500 for the porting (and that was a good guy deal). It would take more than 5K to build your engine with these basic parts and this way you keep your stock engine. Photos available.

I would need to buy a set of pistons as outlined in the ad, so add $750. I'll assemble it for free. If you want it dynoed add another $500. Here is what the head looks like.

Yes the head is different, but you can drill and tap the 2002 head to fit the 2000/01 mounts.
Since the engine does not have pistons yet, you (or I) could order them in any compression ratio you like. With high (marginal on pump gas) compression you should see 200hp. Less with lower C/R. Yes it has special valve springs.
Bend, OR
PM me your number and I'll call you.
