Yes because I talked to the guy who helped it go from 194 to 196 last night. Ridden from Cali to the Salt Flats. Went 194....did some minor tweaks to setup, nothing crazy, went 196. That bike is all that.

Yes, I believe it, although I guess "stock" just means the motor.

Last month the UK magazine Performance Bikes took a BMW to 197.289mph with two teeth less on the rear and some "aerodynamic" taping on the fairing (they got 3mph just by covering the screen slots). Otherwise a stock engined bike.

In 2006 we got a totally stock ZZR1400 (ZX-14) to 198.7mph on the runway at RAF Woodbridge, Suffolk, England. This was the 200mph club's Judgement Day 9, the rider was Mike Grainger and it is a matter of record. The bike was just de-limited, otherwise everything was showroom stock, mirrors and all. Speed was achieved in a mile-and-a-quarter, there was a tail wind. (At the previous meeting, with normal conditions I recorded 191mph on a stock 14)

The 14 still rules.

Actually, I believe that bike was 100% stock. It was run in production class.

Oddly enough, in our production class you can have internal engine mods. Everything must appear stock externally, however.

Chad ran 196 at Maxton on a zx14 .. The only mod was a 18 tooth front sprocket ..If i remember right they did lower the bike some by adjusting the rear shock .. No aftermarket parts were used to lower it .. As you know Maxton is a standing mile , that is why i asked what has the BMW run in the standing mile ..

The density altitude at Bonneville was around 6000 ft....so imagine that. Maxton rarely gets over 3000' of DA, and much lower most of the year.

BobC-

Wasn't Judgement Day 9 the event where they had 40mph gust tailwinds? lol

I remember reading that over at 200mph.org a while back. Any truth to that?

Hate to tell you Brocks Busa was fully modded and running MR9 .. The BMW was stock ..Brocks zx14 that broke 200 ( 200.92 ) at Maxton was also fully modded just like his Busa ..

No I don't believe it. Only a zx14 or busa (all Brock'ed out) is capable of such speeds. It also has to have had run brock's injector cleaner within the last 1000 miles.

Tim's S1000 put out more HP than that on pump gas. Valve cover has never been off of it. His isn't a "demo" either. He just went in and bought it. Right off the showroom floor.

Obviously not all dyno's are the same. However, I don't think this demo bike is a ringer.

I looked this one over pretty good in impound when they had it all ripped apart to measure the displacement. They are nice bikes.

That was a scurrilous rumour put about by those club members who weren't there and some "armchair" club members. It kept the forum going for months.

Yes, as I said, there was a tail wind which certainly helped.

Put it into context though: my 14 did 205.4 at JD9 with the tail wind and 203.1 at JD10 which had a side wind. It was worth a few mph, maybe more to the lower powered bikes with slower terminal speeds.

But you've got to be in it to win it.

Bingo!

That's one thing I questioned. So it would still make as much HP and run just as good in Denver as it would at sea level?

Geared up and lowered sure. The S1000RR is not much of a torque bike . It is a high RPM screamer.

Did you ever factor in how much DISTANCE they ran that in? Bikes starve for air up there but have lots of room to pull top gear. Doubt if you want, it means little in the grand scheme of things. Its an exceptional motorcycle any way you look at it. Funny you have a hard time believing a liter bike when a little faster than other literbikes but didn't voice any doubt at all when Forstall and the boys went over 250 n/a.

I have no doubt that it it did it - the clocks don't lie. ........... and it wasn't with a tailwind becasuse it is a 2-way average.

I'm wondering about the "showroom stock" part.
