'08 CBR1000RR

I suspect the 1000RR will kick all azz in '08 just as the 600RR has in '07.

I'm betting on it.

Maybe Kawasaki will have something but judging from the Honda 600's and 1000's from the past few years losing so much weight while everyone else gains weight, if the current trend continues...

All you care to bet my friend, we'll dig this thread up in a few months after the slaughter is proven (remember everyone said the same about HONDA and the 600 class and it rocked the world)

I haven't seen honda put out a bike I'd want to own since 83' with the VF750R. They haven't shown anything in the 1 liter class ever. My bet stands. But, I'll gladly eat crow to see the next level of performance in this class, regardless of who builds it!

Well technically the 93' 900RR wasn't a "Literbike" so I see your point...

... but it sure as hell ate Literbikes for breakfast

I'd prefer they make a 1200cc twin or a street rc211v. Though they might make an inline interesting, if, they gave it a firing order like a v so it didn't sound like a damn inline.

I dont know about the CBR1k dominating the Superbikes this year. Honda might have been able to pull it off if the other 3 were standing pat. Don't look that's happening though. Unlike the ZX6 that came up short in the HP dept by about 5hp to the CBR6RR which was primarily the difference in who wore the 600 crown. The ZX10 we already know was sporting a 10 to 12 hp advantage over the CBR1K. So, Honda better have come armed for Bear with the 08 cuz it looks like Kawi is not going to be lying down this year.
Hey, who did I have a bet with that Honda was NOT gonna carry the Superbike crown this year?

And the ZX6R's extra weight plus lack of midrange power compared to the CBR6, wouldn't want to forget that.

Most street riders depend on peak hp alone to determine the best motorcycle for their bragging rights at the biker nights. They offten ignore the rest of the power/tq curve, actual wet weight, rotational and unsprung weight, suspension, brakes, and handling altogether. Performance enthusiest look at the complete package.

What's the average power to weight ratio of current literbikes? Roughly 3 pounds for every 1 hp? If given the choice of -30 pounds or +10 peak hp I'll take the weight reduction due to the extra performance gains under braking, turn-in, corner speed, corner exit, and transitions(=acceleration gains). Also, from a financial point, it's ALOT cheaper to gain hp than it is to lose weight; the engine mods are not at as much risk of damage in a crash as the exotic and exspensive carbon wheels, lighter sub-frame, body, clip-ons, etc to get a bike's weight down to the lighter competition...

But that's just my backwardsass way of thinking.

OK, But that's just reinforcing my point with the 1000s' the 10 had less weight, more power, better power in 04,05,06 & 07. Now Kawi has stepped it up again. The cbr1k is going to have it's hands full pulling the 1000 crown, The CBR1k never had any of those things you've mentioned as an advantage over it's counterparts before so they will have to bring alot more to the table than the comp. As far as the 600s' go I didn't think there was a big diff in weight. As a matter of fact, I remember reading how the ZX6 was laser like in the handling dept. The mid range was light but last time I did a track day on my ZX6 I never saw the bottom side of 9k rpms. Never really felt the soft mid.

Actually the 06/07 ZX10 didn't have any weight advantage as they weighed the same.

Going off the current trend the ZX10R is gaining weight and CBR is losing it. I still think the ZX will have more power but will be heavier. Only speculation though.
