'10 Concours14 / SPOT locater

Picked up a Concours. At the risk of being off-topic I mirrored on a few forums here.

C14 - Seems to be a fine bike, I flew into Philly and the dealership gave me a ride to NJ. Bought the connie and rode it to mom's in the Carolinas to take her to b'day dinner and get the 600 mile oil change. The bike did so well I could've kept riding onward to Tampa.

I tried a "SPOT" locater. Wow I can't say enough about the product. Its actually for getting immediate emergency help such as search and rescue if you go off the side of a mountain in a no cell phone service area and such. But I got it so mom could track my travels as I rode down from NJ and not worry.

It plotted me flying to NJ then my whole ride to Carolinas. Sunday I'll do another 600 miles from Carolinas to FL, and it will show me traveling in realtime again. Its a great product.

To see SPOT in action where I've been thus far (or track Sunday in realtime) click right here http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0I7n12Hyuck2VuGtQBWom3q8A6dGN8AYA

thanks fella's - weather was 47 degrees and I was geared up for colder.

Keeping the litre leaner around and plan to use the connie on a lot of upcoming long trips. I'm really surprised how good it did on that 650 mile gig with no breaks except fast gas stops and a quick coffee.

I just got the 600 mile oil change done. Interested since it's broken in to see how far the bike will go with ECU in "economy" mode and check true gas mileage when I go to FL sunday (bike is telling me 43-47 average)

that SPOT product really has me impressed!

Glad you are enjoying it. That bike just eats miles. Wait till you put real tires on the thing. Oh yeah it doesn't even start to run good until about 4000 miles.

Way to go Steve, I'm sure you'll love that thing. One of them is on my to do list as they are great bikes and the changes they made for the '10 model really helped iron out a couple small issues.

Kawasaki really put the sport back in sport touring!

that is really cool Steve, I was wondering how it worked. Just ordered one for my son, that way we can track him when he goes out of town to visit his friends.

Looks like he is in Columbia SC, right in the middle of that ice storm. Hopefully he is safe and warm.
Pretty cool device though,

It will be standard equipment soon.... On star is hugely intrusive, I always wanted to take the on star unit out of a car and take it with me on a cruise and then call for directions!

Well, I made a wrong turn in fl. and I do not know where I am now "you are in the middle of the atlantic ocean", Impossible I say, the road sign says 1,000 miles to the virgin islands..

Looks like he is having fun. I like the C-14 but can't afford another "Toy" as my wife

has informed me. I have the GPS on my Blackberry so I am on her radar when I am

going on long trips. :-) and my Garmin Street Pilot for the road.
