Big Twin Customs Invitational Names Its "Best Of.." Category Award Winners
Advanstar Communications, a leading provider of integrated media solutions to the automotive aftermarket, off-road and powersports industries, is pleased to announce the builders who were awarded the first annual Big Twin Customs Invitational category awards.
"The first ever Big Twin Customs Invitational at Big Twin West resulted in an amazing collection of over 90 machines from builders that are not necessarily household names; however after seeing the results of their efforts we will be hearing more from them in the near future. While listening in on the judging process it was evident that the advisory board had a difficult task in choosing their final winners. I personally would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts in helping make this first time event a success," said Dave Scott, Big Twin West Show Manager.
An Advisory Board made up of Keith Ball, Denny Berg, Bill Rucker and Michael Prugh conducted the category award process. Dave Perewitz and Roger Bourget are also members of the Advisory Board but were unable to make it to the show. When choosing the category award winners, they were looking for bikes that demonstrated innovation, attention to detail, level of engineering, degree of difficulty and quality of workmanship. For the Excellence in Design awards, each Advisory Board member chose a bike that they felt best represented the spirit of Big Twin Customs Invitational. Based on these qualities, the Advisory Board named the following builders category award winners:
Best Fabrication : Jaxon Fyffe of Wild Card Customs with his bike Speedliner
Best Old School : Paul Ponkow of Bones Legacy with his bike VL Madness
Best Paint : Wayne Barretto of Bad Island Toyz with his bike Hawaiian Style.
Excellence in Engineering : Randy Hocker of Redhill Motorcycle Werx with his bike Phatillac
Exhibitor's Choice : Jim Maestas of Jims Big Twins with his bike Rachel
Excellence in Design , picked by Denny Berg: Scott Long of Central Coast Cycles with his bike Blue Bike.
Excellence in Design , picked by Bill Rucker: Andy Manna and Justin Scalzi of Viking Motorcycle with their bike Metric Envy
Excellence in Design , picked by Michael Prugh: Justin Collier of Colliers Custom Cycle with his bike Black n Blue
Excellence in Design , picked by Keith Ball: Paul Stewart of Dynamic Choppers with his bike Ditch Digger
Special Award - RAT award : Paul Stewart of Dynamic Choppers with his bike Rat Bike.
The Advisory Board created a special award, the RAT award for Paul Stewart's Rat bike. They were impressed with the attention to detail, inspired use of everyday objects - the wrench as kickstand, shoe size tool as foot rest - and overall ingenuity displayed in the creation of the bike.
Big Twin Customs Invitational thanks all of the builders who participated in the first annual Big Twin Customs Invitational. The Invitational was a success due to the dedication of the participating builders who chose Big Twin West as the venue to showcase their bikes.
Big Twin Customs Invitational took place December 1 - 3, 2006, during Big Twin West, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. For more information on the show visit www.bigtwinwest.com .
