Remes and Albergoni finish 4-5 in E1 rounds 13 & 14

KTM Enduro Factory Team riders Eero Remes and Simone Albergoni managed to duplicate their 4-5 results in the E1 class on Saturday and Sunday in Northern Greece but were unable to make any inroads on the dominant riders in the class

Now out of contention for the title with just 50 points up for grabs in rounds 15 and 16 in France, the title is being contested between Mika Ahola and Antonio Meo.

Riders had a very tough weekend in the hot and dusty conditions in Serres, Northern Greece. On Saturday riders were on the bikes for eight hours tracking through the forests in exhausting temperatures in the mid 30s Celsius, prompting organizers to cut Sunday's race from four to three laps.

KTM Factory Team boss Fabio Farioli said while the battle for the title was lost the two riders will still be out for a positive result in the last round. Albergoni of Italy returned to KTM this season while Remes of Finland was the team's rookie.

"Remes is a young rider and he's been improving during the season. Now he's definitely faster than he was at the beginning of the season," Farioli said.

Meanwhile Albergoni hangs on to third in the championship standings and has good chances of finishing in the top three when the season is over. KTM supported rider Thomas Oldrati is currently fourth and Remes is a creditable fifth.
