Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2 collected its second set of silverware this season thanks to Ken Roczen's runner-up position at a blustery Mantova circuit for the Grand Prix of Lombardia in Italy and the second round of the 2010 FIM MX2 World Championship.

A weekend figure of 19,000 spectators experienced contrasting weather conditions as sunshine and high temperatures on Saturday gave way to a cooler early springtime climate on race day.

The loose sand in north-central Italy was rough and challenging but Roczen showed some impressive inventiveness during the Qualification Heat on Saturday to secure third position in the gate for Sunday while team-mate Arnaud Tonus was unlucky to DNF the race due to a minor technical problem and line up 22nd.

The hard and shifting bumps made for a technical track on Sunday. Some changing ruts emerged as the terrain dried from overnight rain and the tight layout forced a single line in some sections. Roczen ultimately suffered from good but not excellent starts. The 15 year old flicked his RM-Z250 to second place in Moto1 and spent a large portion of the race chasing leader Marvin Musquin, in the end losing out by just three-tenths-of-a-second. In Moto2 he reached third spot but faced an insurmountable distance to Musquin and Jeffrey Herlings, so completed a solitary race to third. Roczen now has six career podiums from just 13 Grands Prix.

Arnaud Tonus rode forcefully to finish sixth in the final classification. The Swiss was held up at the start of Moto1 and also suffered a small fall on the way to 11th but fired through the field to reach fourth in Moto2 and looked strong and comfortable on the difficult course.

After two rounds, Roczen is second in the World Championship Standings and trails Musquin by 14 points. Tonus gives the team two riders in the top-five with fifth place and needs seven points to move up.

The Grand Prix of the Netherlands on April 28th in the deeper sand of Valkenswaard, close to the city of Eindhoven, will be the next major outing for the Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2 team.

Ken Roczen:

"Another podium so a good result. I began the first moto by settling into the race and overall it was pretty good. I needed perhaps one more lap to try and get close to Marvin to overtake. I think my starts need more work because these guys are already a couple of seconds in front of me by the time I get through. My start was worse in the second moto and I was a little tight with my riding. Jeffrey and Marvin were too far for me to get near. The track was good for racing. It was not too difficult."

Arnaud Tonus:

"I am so happy to take fourth place in that second moto. I feel the podium is getting a little closer! I lost so much time on the first corner of the first moto because someone crashed in front of me and I was stuck but it was still a good race because my speed was effective and I came back to 11th; even though I had a small fall together with Schiffer. I rescued something for the Championship with that race. For the second moto we changed some small things on the bike and it felt better on a rougher track. I was not going so well at the beginning but I finally found my speed and passed Nicholls and those guys to take fourth. I was there a long time and worked hard to be consistent. Overall this was very good for me and I am pleased that my riding has improved on this sandy terrain."
