SUZUKI SPEED RACING WINS AT ALBACETE SBK

Suzuki Spain Superbike rider Adrián Bonastre raced his Team Suzuki Speed Racing GSX-R1000 to his first victory of the season at Sunday's CEV Spanish Superbike Championship fifth round at Albacete.

In a drama-packed event that saw Bonastre's team-mate Javi del Amor clashing with BMW's Xavi Forres - an incident that knocked del Amor out of the race with injury to his right leg - Bonastre took control of the race to win by a fraction-of-a-second from Kawasaki's Santiago Barragán with third place going to Carmelo Morales.

Jose Regaña - Team Principal:

"You win some, you lose some. I'm happy with Adrian's victory, the work we did this weekend, the Suzuki motorcycles, the Dunlop tyres; and of course the riders. I'm a little frustrated by Javi's crash though; he looked very comfortable and riding to conserve tyres to get a top position, but unfortunately Xavi Forres' misfortune in a corner that took-out Javi stopped us from taking a double podium. We hope to continue working along the same lines for the next race at this circuit next month and try to get first-and-second places. Congratulations to Adrian on his victory and lots of encouragement for Javi - as we all know he's got it to be there on the podium."

Adrián Bonastre:

"I got a good start with Kyle Smith and Xavi Forres in front, then I saw a gap and I went for it and after the crash, spent the rest of the race riding alone. Congratulations to the team and Dunlop for a job well done. Starting from scratch on Friday, to get the fastest lap was a great achievement, so thank-you very much to everyone in the team."

Javi del Amor:

"I'm happy as far as it goes. The team worked hard to prepare a Suzuki capable of winning for me. The fall was a pity and it was a career setback, but I'll learn from this and take this knowledge through to the next race. But thank you to all the hard work from the team and Dunlop; and congratulations to 'Adri' for taking the victory today."

The sixth and penultimate round of the Campeonato de España de Velocidad (CEV) Spanish Superbike Championship will be on September 9th, again taking place at the Albacete circuit.
