Team Babbitt's Sweeps Again in Omaha

AMSOIL Arenacross kicked off the second half of the 2016 season on Saturday with its debut from the CenturyLink Center in Omaha. Team Babbitt's/Monster Energy®/AMSOIL Kawasaki's Gavin Faith accomplished another flawless night at his hometown race, sweeping both Main Events to take his second straight overall win. With these two wins, Faith’s points lead extends to 17 points in the Arenacross Class point standings.

Faith had his hands full in the opening laps of Main Event 1, as the top three exchanged positions several times. Although, as the intensity increased, mistakes were on the rise and Faith was able to build a cushion and capture the win. Teammates Chris Blose and Jacob Hayes were not far behind as they both finished inside the top five with Blose in fourth and an amazing comeback by Hayes in fifth after an opening lap crash.

The Team Babbitt’s/Monster Energy/AMSOIL/Kawasaki’s riders were off to a terrific start in Main Event 2 with all three coming around turn one 1-2-3. Faith led the field with teammate Hayes close behind and Blose in third. The three wouldn’t lose sight of each other all night, maintaining a distance of under one second between one another for the majority of the race. Faith wouldn’t be phased by the pressure and took his second win of the night, with a perfect (1-1). He would be joined up on the podium by both Team Babbitt’s teammates with Hayes in second (5-2) and Blose in third (4-3).

“After missing a night of racing in Omaha it was a great way to get the momentum rolling again,” said Hayes. “I always want a win over second, but I’ll take it for my first race back. I know what needs to be done and I’m headed home to prepare myself for the next weekend.”

“This weekends race was awesome,” said Faith. “I had a great battle in the Head-2-Head and ended up taking the win for an extra point. Then in Main Event 1 I had a great battle with a couple different riders and ended up taking the win. In Main Event 2 I had last gate pick but still took the holeshot and controlled the race from then on out. My (1-1) took the overall and I couldn’t be happier with the weekend.”

“Omaha was overall a good night,” said Blose. “I finally got some momentum going after struggling the past couple weekends. In my heat race I got a decent start and made my way up to third place to finish strong. In Main Event 1, I struggled a little off the start, but I was able to capitalize on a few mistakes and get up to fourth. Main Event 2 was fun, as all three of us were up front and stayed close for the entire race. I believe my speed and fitness is there to win, I just need to put it all together.
