SILVERSTONE - FREE PRACTICE2016-09-03 14:52DRIVE M7 SIC Racing Team riders Jakub Kornfeil and Adam Norrodin ended day one at the legendary Silverstone Circuit in 25th and 32nd place respectively on the combined time sheet. Focusing hard on getting to grips with the remarkably wide and sweeping track, Norrodin showed good adaptability during his debut outing around the 5.9km circuit. Making considerable progress between the two sessions, the Malaysian rookie improved his fastest time set in FP1 by nearly four seconds in the afternoon practice; a determined and ambitious feat by the 18-year-old. Teammate Jakub Kornfeil experienced a harder start to proceedings, initially struggling to find his focus. Despite being unable to reach his objectives for day one, the Czech rider who still retains the lap record around the circuit, is confident he can significantly improve ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying. #84 Jakub Kornfeil “This morning I didn’t do a very good job; I was not 100% focussed and my performance was not good. I’m sorry to my team for this. To finish top fifteen in FP1 was okay but for sure I could have done a lot better. We didn’t change much on the bike for the afternoon session, we just used the used tyres so that we are better prepared for qualifying tomorrow. In general I felt good with the set-up of the bike and there is no one place in particular that I have a big problem but still we are over two seconds off the pace. Looking at the data with my crew chief, it looks like I am loosing most of my speed in the fast corners. This is normally my strong point but today I have been going into these corners 10-15km slower than before. This is what we must work on for tomorrow. I need to get my head back in the game and regain my confidence to push harder around this track. I know that I can be fast here whether I’m with other riders or alone. I was on the podium here last year and I hold the lap record, so I can do better. Tomorrow I will do all that it takes to improve.” #7 Adam Norrodin “There are many fast corners at this track and the more laps I do, the more I like it. However there are also more bumps here than I was expecting and this has took me a bit longer to get used to. In FP1 my times were far away because at the very start I was just focussing on learning the layout, so my feeling to push was not so good. Everybody initially went fast, so it was a tough first practice. This afternoon we worked hard to make a good step and I’m pleased that we did. The position is still not there but we are heading in the right direction and I’m confident that I can improve my time even more tomorrow.
