Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Taking Title Ambitions To Indianapolis2017-03-16 08:19
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo and Joey Savatgy inched themselves closer to the current points leader after a spectacular 1-2 finish in Daytona over the weekend. As the series heads to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Savatgy enters Round 5 only six points back, while Cianciarulo’s win propelled him to sit just nine points back.
Coming off a touching win in front of his hometown crowd, Cianciarulo enters this weekend with a newfound confidence. He should also have good memories of Lucas Oil Stadium where he scored a win in 2014. Knowing there is still plenty of racing left in the season, Cianciarulo has found his stride and is within reach of the Eastern Regional 250SX Championship.
“After last weekend, I’m really excited to get back on the track in Indy,” said Cianciarulo. “Indy is known for being a tough race with lots of ruts but I think that after facing the rough track in Daytona, we’ll be ready.”
Savatgy’s second-place ride in Daytona was the boost he needed after two tough races. He gained valuable points in the championship and that has given him new life as the series heads to another grueling racetrack. The track is known for quickly forming deep ruts, with Savatgy looking to rely on his experience to get through the night and achieve a top finish.
“It’s going to be about minimizing mistakes in Indy and I think we’ve learned a lot over the past few weeks where we can come in prepared to be up front,” said Savatgy. “There is still a lot of racing left in this series and I would love nothing more than to be back on top of the podium.”
Savatgy and Cianciarulo will be signing autographs at local dealership Westfield Powersports on Friday, March 17 from 6-7 p.m. The broadcast for the race can be found on FS1 or the Fox Sports Go app starting at 7 p.m. EDT.
