JEREZ GP - FREE PRACTICE

2017-05-05 14:05
Day one of the Spanish Grand Prix saw mixed weather conditions hinder times, with ominous clouds descending upon the Circuito de Jerez just before the first Moto3 practice got underway.
As the rain arrived the majority of the field were forced to quickly adjust their machines to an unexpected wet setting.

With the sun trying to break through, Free Practice two saw an equally disruptive session with both wet and dry conditions on track hindering the majority of the Moto3 field.

SIC Racing Team riders Adam Norrodin and Ayumu Sasaki concluded the day with a combined position of 21st [Adam] and 25th [Ayumu] place.

#7 ADAM NORRODIN

“This morning we had wet conditions so we didn’t make so many laps. The times were not there but we were able to get a feeling for our set-up and how the bike performs in the rain. In FP2 it was half and half. We waited a little bit at first to see if it would dry out completely but it didn’t. We went out for the final twenty minutes on a soft front and medium rear tyre. Towards the very end of the session many riders returned to the box to change to full softs but we decided to just stay out and focus on finding a good rhythm rather than chasing the lap time. For sure with the soft tyre front and rear we can go faster, so this we can do tomorrow. We will be up to speed for qualifying.”
#71 AYUMU SASAKI

“The rain arrived at the very start of FP1, so we had to change the set-up of the bike; we got out in the last ten minutes and my feeling was quite good, it just wasn’t enough time. However I’m happy that we could at least test the engine and collect some data in the wet. Second practice was a lot harder because this time the conditions were half and half; it’s a shame because it’s hard to feel like you are making any progress without the fast times, but still it is good to make some laps and get a feel for the conditions and get used to the track again. I hope for better weather tomorrow; I am ready to push.”
