McPhee pushing for progress on Day 2

2017-09-09 17:36
John McPhee will be pushing hard to move forward on Day 2 at the Gran Premio Tribul Mastercard di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, with the Scot ending Friday in P18 - but only a few tenths off the top ten.

After sitting out much of FP1 because the conditions were damp, McPhee went P8 in the latter stages of that session as it dried out. In the afternoon, laptimes improved considerably to mirror the sunnier conditions, and the Scotsman put in 14 laps. His quickest time of a 1:43.837 put him P18 in an extremely tight midfield, using the time to experiment before a push towards the front when it counts - on Saturday and Sunday.

Now the mission is on to move forward, with qualifying getting underway at 12:35 (GMT +2).
John McPhee, P18: "Today wasn't the best day but we're not so far from the top, and even closer to the top in terms of laptime. We tried a couple of things that didn't go to plan but that's what practice is for. Tomorrow I want to move forward in qualifying and set myself up for the race, so we just need to find a few tenths and put a lap together when it counts."
