Michele Cervellin helped Team Italy to a final qualifying position of eighth, ahead of tomorrow’s races at the Matterley Basin track for the 2017 Motocross of Nations.

The Team HRC rider did not have the best start out of the gate, finding himself 19th after the bunched first corner, but was keen to push on aboard his CRF250RW and make his way through the pack. Over the course of the MX2 class qualifying race, the Italian made inch-perfect overtaking manoeuvres to take the chequered flag in 13th.

The first of the three races for the coveted Motocross of Nations title starts tomorrow at 13:10hrs local time.

Today I didn’t have the best feeling. I have only been training with the bike over the last week. I didn’t have the best start for the qualifying race but I finished 13th which is not so bad. I am happy for the team as Tony finished third and Alessandro finished 10th. I know I can do better so I hope I will do better tomorrow.

Miki was still suffering a bit with his injury from America but thankfully he was ok today in the qualifying race. He kept out of trouble and the Italians qualified for the main event tomorrow. This is good for the Italian team and us at HRC as we can get some more miles under our belt with the new CRF250RW this weekend.
