Ángel Nieto Team Moto3 - Jerez Test 12018-02-13 07:48
Spanish rider ends first day of testing with a best time of 1:46.976, while teammate Andrea Migno places twelfth, less than half a second slower
Four days after their test at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo concluded, the Moto3 riders were back on track at the Circuito de Jerez for their second preseason test of 2018. In contrast to what happened on the final day In Valencia, the third session this Monday provided the best conditions for fast times. As in Valencia, Jorge Martín set the pace, with a 1:46.857 lap. Only he and three other riders went below the 1:47 mark: Italians Tony Arbolino and Niccolò Antonelli, as well as Ángel Nieto Team rider Albert Arenas.
After their first contact with the KTM bike at Valencia, the Ángel Nieto Team moved to Jerez with high spirits, and started the test with a fourth position for Albert Arenas and twelfth for Andrea Migno. Arenas has completed a total of 39 laps, stopping the clock at 1:46.976. Together with his crew he worked on the setup of his bike, and will continue to look for more rear grip tomorrow and on Wednesday so as to be more consistent with the hard tyre. Andrea Migno finished the day with the twelfth fastest time, six tenths off the quickest lap. The Italian was the fastest in the second session of the day, with a wet track, and completed a total of 56 laps on Monday. The Italian continues his adaptation to the Ángel Nieto Team and hopes to continue improving to get better times over the next two days.
4th Albert Arenas 1:46.976 (39 laps): "I am happy with how the day ended and with the time we achieved. At the beginning of the day I did not feel very comfortable with the bike, the feeling were different compared with at Valencia. We started working to get a better feeling and make the bike feel like my own, so that I can put it wherever I want. Step by step we found a good setup, and at the end of the day I was able to push to get a good hot lap. There are a couple of days left, and we will continue working to get more rear grip and be more consistent with the hard tyre. We have a couple of days ahead in which to achieve this."
12th Andrea Migno 1:47.470 (56 laps): "It was a good day to start off on, and I felt better than in Valencia. We are quite happy, I am working well with the team and I have a good feeling. It is clear that we have to improve, but I think that over the coming days we will be able to go faster and try some things out."
