ZOLDER GSX-R MEETING SUCCESS2018-07-11 12:03
Last weekend saw the first ever staging of the GSX-R Meeting at Zolder in Belgium, where more than 500 Suzuki dealers and fans, plus 300 GSX-R machines joined Team Suzuki ECSTAR's Alex Rins and former Suzuki World 500GP Champion Kevin Schwantz.
The event was held in conjunction with the German IDM Superbike Championship and organised by Suzuki Germany.
Suzuki riders, fans and dealers enjoyed an autograph session with Alex and Kevin and an action-packed programme of activities. These included stunt riding shows, a slow riding contest, test rides, a collection of historic Suzuki GSX-R road and race bikes and a Suzuki clothing and accessories shop. To give the event a touch of Japanese culture, the food options included fresh Sushi prepared by professional Japanese staff.
As a tribute to former Suzuki MX World Champion Eric Geboers, there was a display with his 1983 factory RM125 and some personal equipment to honour this extraordinary sportsman.
Perhaps the highlight for the GSX-R owners were the two demonstration laps of the Zolder circuit that they shared with Alex and Kevin. It was certainly impressive to see around 200 GSX-Rs out on the track!
Following a relaxed biker party on Saturday evening, all the spectators enjoyed the races on Sunday in beautiful weather conditions.
The Suzuki fans gave the whole GSX-R Meeting and concept top feedback, especially for the live events and the excellent catering throughout the weekend.
