Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia – Sunday 4th November
Circuit: Sepang International Circuit
Circuit Length: 5.5 km
PETRONAS Sprinta Racing rider Niki Tuuli experienced a tough weekend at the teams Home Grand Prix, crashing out of todays Moto2 race.
The Finnish rider struggled to adjust to the track under the changing weather conditions, throughout the practice sessions, hampering his overall progression.
Despite being unable to complete the Malaysian Grand Prix, Tuuli remains positive that he can come back fighting at the final round in Valencia in two weeks time.
Johan Stigefelt – Team Manager
“It’s been a difficult weekend for Niki [Tuuli]; with the way the weather has been, it’s made it a lot harder for him to find his rhythm here. He’s struggled to find a good pace and to find the speed; in addition to the huge crash that he suffered in Australia - I’m sure it also affected him somehow this weekend. In the race, he crashed in the last corner and it’s a pity because we wanted him to take away a good experience today. We will try to do better at the next round.”
#66 Niki Tuuli - DNF
“I’m really disappointed about the whole weekend; I had the same problem in every session. For me it’s just difficult to ride here; I don’t have any feeling to turn the bike in the fast corners and I loose the front so much. In the race the first couple of laps were OK and I passed a few people, but after that I just couldn’t hold my line, so I kept going wide. In the last corner I crashed; I’m very sorry to the team for that and the whole weekend. I always try my best but this time it wasn’t even close to what we needed. In Valencia I will come back fighting. I hope there I can find a better feeling. Thanks to PETRONAS and the team for their support.”
