TEAM STATEMENT - ADAM NORRODIN

2018-11-08 13:26
PETRONAS Sprinta Racing rider Adam Norrodin will miss the final round of the 2018 MotoGP Championship, due to immediate surgery required.

Last week in Malaysia, Adam Norrodin rode a heroic race in front of his home crowd, where he stormed through the Moto3 field into the top ten, after starting from pit lane. Norrodin admirably finished the race, despite crashing on the penultimate lap, but on his return to the box, it became apparent that the twenty-year-old was in a lot of pain.

Following the dislocation of his shoulder after a heavy crash at the Japanese Grand Prix, Adam Norrodin will undergo surgery at Kuala Lumpur Sports Medical Center [Tuesday 13th November] by Dr. Saw Khay Yong, to cure the continuous instability and discomfort that he has experienced since. Approximately six weeks later, Adam [Norrodin] will undergo a second surgery to repair an injury sustained to the left knee in July.

“It’s been a very difficult decision not to race in Valencia, but in the end I had to think about my future and the long term effect of delaying the operation. I’m really sad to be ending my Moto3 career this way; I’ve really enjoyed my time with the team and I wanted to see them one last time and to finish on a high. After my race in Malaysia, I was feeling so motivated to go to Valencia, but in the end I had to think about my future, to make sure that I am physically prepared for it. Now my focus is on next year and competing in Moto2, in the Spanish Championship, so I want to be 100% fit and ready to start this new chapter in 2019. I wish all the best to my team for the Valencia race – I will be watching and supporting them from home. I want to say thank you to them all for their support over the years and I look forward to seeing them all again soon.”
