Kawasaki Team Green™ Captures Eight Championships at the James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship

The 2019 AMA Spring Amateur Nationals kicked off this past week at the James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship in Wortham, Texas. Kawasaki Team Green™ Texas-two-stepped their way into eight championships and 17 total podiums aboard Kawasaki KX™ motorcycles over the course of the week.

One of the event’s constant front-runners was Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green’s Stilez Robertson who won a title in the Schoolboy 2 class and finished with a second and third in 250 B and 450 B respectively. Robertson, while in the B class was able to match the times and speed of the 250 A and Open Pro Sport class winners proving that he will be a threat all year long in the B class.

“Freestone was pretty good to me this year,” said Robertson. “I got the championship in the Schoolboy 2 class which was good and I obviously wanted to win those championships in the 250 B and 450 B classes but now I know what I need to work on to come out swinging at Cal Classic next month.”

Ryder DiFrancesco proved to be one of the dominant forces in the “Lone Star State” as he would string together an extremely impressive ride in the Mini Sr 2 races. In the first moto, DiFrancesco found himself on the ground in the first corner and was in last place when he remounted. He wasted no time as he put his head down and charged forward aboard his KX™85, with less than a lap to go he made a pass for the lead and won the first moto. In the second moto he was able to get a clean start and run away from the competition where he finished more than 10 seconds ahead of second place. DiFrancesco, being one of the younger riders in the Supermini 1 class, proved that he can hang with the older riders by finishing with an impressive second place overall in the class.

“What a week it was for me,” said DiFrancesco. “I felt like my riding was on point all week long, although I definitely have some work to do on my starts. Two of my races I found myself on the ground in the first corner and it is hard to win races or championships when you do that. Overall I am really happy to be coming home with a Championship in Mini Sr. 2, a second in 85cc 9-13, and the one I am actually most proud of was my second place in Supermini 1.”

It was a tough week for the No. 79 Jett Reynolds and the No. 510 Seth Hammaker both of whom showed dominance by winning motos early in the week in their classes but crashes in subsequent races would ultimately sideline them for the week.

Throughout the week if you heard that the C class was racing you instantly knew that Dylan Cunha was likely running out front and typically with a large margin. Cunha was able to capture four C class championships where he scored 1-1 moto scores in all of those races. He only finished off of the top step of the podium twice the whole week where he finished second with 2-2 moto scores in the 450 C (12+) division.
