Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Cianciarulo Makes It Three In A Row With Thunder Valley Victory2019-06-02 17:20Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo kept the momentum in his favor with another come-from-behind victory at Thunder Valley MX Park. As the series takes its first weekend break, Cianciarulo’s 1-2 helped keep his points cushion where he leads second by six points. Garrett Marchbanks bounced back from a 12th in the first moto to finish ninth in Moto 2 for 11th overall, while Martin Davalos continued to feel the effects of sore ribs and finished 19th with a 19-18 score. Cianciarulo was right in the mix off the start of Moto 1, coming around in second to start the race. He had some pressure that forced him to relinquish second, but he quickly returned to the runner-up spot two laps later. Rain started to fall during the moto and once lightning was reported in the area, the race was red flagged and called with only six minutes remaining, forcing Cianciarulo to settle for second. In Moto 2, the Floridian got an even better start and stuck to the rear wheel of the leader. He made a small mistake that resulted in him going off the track, but he reentered safely and without gaining an advantage. Ready to make up for his mistake, he put a charge to the front and was able to capitalize on a mistake from the leader on Lap 7, holding off pressure until the end. His 2-1 moto score was good enough for his third overall of the season. “When I went off the track I tried to be as fair as possible when I rejoined,” said Cianciarulo “We’ve (Justin Cooper) been pushing each other so much and it’s really been fun. We’ll both only get better so it’s a win-win. The team has been amazing and I couldn’t be happier. I really feel on top of the world.” Marchbanks started the day with an uphill battle after coming around the first lap in the opening moto in 17th. He was making passes and moving forward, but with the shortened race he didn’t have the extra time to make up any more positions and ended up 12th. As much as he wanted to get a better start in Moto 2, it just wasn’t meant to be and he came around the first lap in 18th. This moto he didn’t waste any time and quickly got up to 11th by Lap 3 and eventually made it into the top 10 to finish ninth for 11th overall. “I was really hoping to grab another top 10 but it didn’t happen after my race in Moto 1,” said Marchbanks. “With the starts I’ve had, I can’t waste any time pushing to the front and with the changing conditions in Moto 1, I only got up to 12th. I felt like I had more but this is about where I started to gain momentum last year and I’m hoping that we can come back refreshed for High Point in two weeks.” It was a tough day for Davalos who not only was dealing with the altitude and rutted rough track, but also trying to manage his sore ribs he hurt at the opening round. He got a decent start in Moto 1, but the varied conditions forced him back to 19th. In Moto 2, he started 21st and worked up to 17th at one point before finishing 18th. “Today wasn’t my day and you’re going to have those days,” said Davalos. “It’s how you get over it, move on and learn from it that matter most. I’m looking forward to having an off weekend and getting healed up. We’ll be ready to bounce back from this one.” To find out more about Pro Circuit products, visit www.procircuit.com.
