Moto2 debut for Norrodin at San Marino GP

Adam Norrodin is set to make his debut in the Moto2 World Championship for PETRONAS Sprinta Racing this weekend, as he deputises for fellow Malaysian rider Khairul Idham Pawi at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in the Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.

Norrodin re-joins PETRONAS Sprinta Racing, a team he’s very familiar with after three seasons in the Moto3 class from 2016 to 2018, hoping to show his skills. Experienced in the Moto2 class thanks to his time in the European Moto2 Championship this season for SIC Junior ZK Racing, the weekend will nonetheless be full of challenge for him as he experiences world championship opposition and Moto2’s new Triumph engine for the first time.

Action gets underway at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on Friday 13th September with free practice at 1055 local time (1655 Malaysian time), ahead of Sunday 15th September’s San Marino Grand Prix.

Adam Norrodin
“I’ve had so many messages congratulating me on getting this opportunity, which makes me feel very thankful. Misano isn’t an easy track, but it’s one where the lap times from first to last aren’t normally that different. I like the circuit, because it’s technical and interesting for a rider. It’s somewhere where you can learn a lot, so it’ll be a good place to make my debut! I’ve been watching last year’s race over and over again as well as some of this year’s races and I’ve spoken to some riders so that I can understand how the Triumph engine works. It means I’ve got a little bit of data, but we’ll see how I feel when I jump onto the bike for the first time. I don’t want to go into the weekend with too ambitious a target and put myself under lots of pressure for my first Moto2 race. The goal is to learn something every session and to stay consistent all weekend. If I can make a good result, that will be a bonus.”
