PETRONAS Yamaha SRT packing for the flyaways2019-10-15 04:39
PETRONAS Yamaha Sepang Racing Team have packed their bags and are heading to Asia and Australia for three weeks of back-to-back MotoGP action at Japan’s Twin Ring Motegi, Australia’s Phillip Island Circuit and their home race at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
Moving four MotoGP bikes, a full complement of team staff and everything needed to keep the show on the road isn’t easy though, with logistics a key component of a successful Grand Prix racing team. With that in mind, we collated some numbers and figures that show how well-oiled the team is as they load up for Japan.
All fitting into 27 shipping crates and weighing nearly ten tonnes, the team will pack everything they need for the 35,000km round trip. Visiting three countries on two continents and spending around 46 hours in the air, it takes a lot to keep a MotoGP team moving far from its European base!
MotoGP returns to action this weekend with the Grand Prix of Japan on Sunday 20th October, followed by the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday 27th October and the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday November 3rd.
