Home improvements sought by PETRONAS Sprinta Racing’s Norrodin

PETRONAS Sprinta Racing Moto2 rider Adam Norrodin is continuing to push to improve as much as possible for tomorrow’s Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix, after finishing today’s qualifying session at the Sepang International Circuit in 31st place.

Looking strong in FP3 this morning after making a big jump forward in the final minutes of the session to close the gap to the leaders to 2.997secs with a lap time of 2mins 7.766secs, Norrodin then faced a different challenge in Q1 when rain started to fall on the Sepang circuit. Still unfamiliar with damp conditions as he continues to act as a substitute for the injured Khairul Idham Pawi, he was unable to improve his lap time and will start tomorrow’s race in 31st.

Norrodin’s Moto2 bike will sport a special livery in tomorrow’s home GP thanks to title sponsor PETRONAS and their #tambahpowerPSRT campaign. The livery will be unveiled in the Sepang pit lane on Saturday evening ahead of Sunday’s race.

Moto2 track action at the Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix concludes at 1320 tomorrow with the 18-lap race at the Sepang International Circuit.

“I was quite disappointed because we made a big step forward in FP3 and it left us with a lot of confidence - but we couldn’t make the most of it. We put in a new tyre at the end of FP3 and I immediately found a second and a half but we lost a lot of earlier track time testing that could have helped me out in qualifying. We’re still getting faster, but every time we do we find more problems, and that just meant that we had some new issues to overcome in qualifying. I’m feeling more and more confident every time I leave the garage though, and the gap to the front isn’t too far.”
