Positives and minuses for Norrodin on first day at Valencia

2019-11-18 02:39
Adam Norrodin has experienced positives and negatives from his opening day of action for PETRONAS Sprinta Racing at the Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana, ending the day P30 with improvements in lap time and a smaller gap to the leaders - but also suffering from the return of pain in his left shoulder following his crash at Motorland Aragon in September.

Completing the day’s two sessions safely despite cool track temperatures leaving the Circuit Ricardo Tormo with low levels of grip, he set a fastest lap of 1minute 37.482secs to end up 2.860secs from P1. However, completing a long run in the afternoon, he experienced a return of the left shoulder pain that saw him sit out the Aragon Grand Prix earlier this year, and will undergo medical treatment tonight in an attempt to limit the impact of it on Sunday’s race.

Track action continues tomorrow with practice at 1055 local time (1755 Malaysian time) and qualifying at 1505 (2205 Malaysian time), before Sunday’s 25-lap Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana race.

“It went well today, maybe helped a little by having ridden here at the start of the year in CEV - and even though conditions were quite cold I was faster than I was back then. I’ve struggled a little bit today with pain in my shoulder from my crash back at Aragon, and I’m not sure why it’s so sore after being fine in the last few races. It could be an issue in Sunday’s race, so we’ll work tonight to do what we can to limit the problems and I’ll visit the Clinica Mobile to see if they can help me with it.”
