PETRONAS Yamaha SRT sets sights on more MotoGP success2020-08-05 09:37
PETRONAS Yamaha Sepang Racing Team rider’s Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli will be heading into the next round of the MotoGP World Championship, taking place this weekend at Automotodrom Brno, confident of further success. The Malaysian team also go into the Czech Republic round at the top of the teams’ standings.
Currently sitting at the top of the riders’ championship standings, Quartararo goes into the third MotoGP race of 2020 with two pole positions and two wins under his belt. The Frenchman has shown that he is a force to be reckoned with in only his second year competing in the premier class. Fabio will be looking to continue his strong form this weekend, in what will be the first of three back-to-back races.
Despite technical issues preventing him from finishing the Andalucia Grand Prix, Franco goes into the next round of the season confident of his potential aboard the Yamaha YZR-M1. The Italian will be looking to continue the progress made throughout the first two races of the year, with the aim of converting that to a second top-five finish this season and to a fight for the podium, after the opportunity was denied to him two weekends ago.
The Grand Prix České republiky, which is the first of three back-to-back rounds, will see track action commence for the MotoGP pair on Friday with Free Practice 1 at 9.55am local time (3.55pm MYT), with Sunday’s 21-lap race due to start at 2pm local time (8pm MYT).
This week at home has been good to think about and enjoy the first two GPs of the season. Brno is a track that I really like. We know from last year that we can be fast there and that we have the performance, even if it is not the best place for our bike. There are a lot of great corners that make up the circuit but the last corner is one of the best. You have to go in with a lot of corner speed but also prepare to take the perfect line for the straight. It’s great to be going there after taking two wins and we’re looking at fighting for the podium this weekend. Our expectations are high and I can’t wait!
