MICHELIN TECHNICIAN RETURNS A POSITIVE PCR TEST2020-10-20 07:52
Michelin regrets to announce that one of its tyre technicians has returned a positive PCR test on the eve of the Gran Premio Michelin® de Aragón in Spain.
Following some positive COVID-19 diagnoses within the paddock earlier this week, the Michelin technicians all had a second precautionary test, despite all of them returning negative samples on Tuesday to enter the paddock for this weekend’s event. Initially the analysis for one member of staff was inconclusive, so a second test was conducted and he unfortunately returned a positive result. The technician is asymptomatic and will now isolate for 10-days as per the rules in place, before being retested with a view to returning to the paddock. His first contact within the team has also been required to isolate for 10-days due to the protocols, even though he has tested negative. Michelin has total respect for the rules that are being applied for everyone’s well-being and the pair will remain in isolation for the required period. The remainder of the Michelin team have been tested and all returned negative results, meaning they will be able to conduct their duties at today’s Gran Premio Michelin® de Aragón.
Everyone at Michelin wishes their fellow team member a speedy and healthy recovery and looks forward to welcoming the pair back into the paddock. No further information will be communicated from Michelin on the situation and all involved would like to request that the privacy of the persons concerned is respected.
