DohaGP just days away for Dixon and Vierge

2021-04-01 11:39
There will be no rest for Jake Dixon and Xavi Vierge this week, as the second round of the 2021 season gets underway for PETRONAS Sprinta Racing this weekend with the DohaGP, the second of two back-to-back races at Losail International Circuit.

After making his racing return from a wrist injury last time out, Dixon will be hoping that he can repeat his strong race performance this Sunday. The Brit proved to be quick throughout the QatarGP and will be focusing on maintaining this momentum as he continues his recovery. The few days rest between the two rounds will also provide Jake with a chance to rest the wrist before action resumes.

Team-mate Vierge will be looking to make amends after crashes during qualifying and the race during the Grand Prix of Qatar. The Spaniard also experienced a drop in form across those two days and will be hoping that, with Losail International Circuit also hosting the race this weekend and with the data gathered last weekend, the problem will be rectified to enable a good result ahead of the first European race of the season.

The DohaGP will start at 2.45pm local time (7.45pm MYT) on Friday for Dixon and Vierge with Free Practice 1, with Sunday’s 20-lap Moto2 race due to get underway at 6.20pm local time (11.20pm MYT).

I think if I can come away fighting for the top-six again, it will be a good result for the first three rounds, with them being so close together. I tried my absolute hardest to get back for the QatarGP, because I was still unsure with my injury what it would be like on the bike. The only riding we’ve done before the race weekend was pre-season Qatar test, so to finish seventh on only my second outing of the year is not so bad. It’s a massive credit to the team to provide me with such a great bike and I’m just so grateful to be back doing what I am.
