PETRONAS Sprinta Racing aiming for more Moto3 podium glory2021-04-01 05:39
After a strong first outing in PETRONAS Sprinta Racing colours resulted in pole position and podium glory at Losail, Darryn Binder will be hoping to maintain the positive momentum this weekend at the DohaGP, while John McPhee will be looking for redemption.
This weekend will see Binder try to repeat the success of his debut GP for PETRONAS Sprinta Racing, with the second round of the year also held at Losail International Circuit. Pole position, a new all time lap record at the Qatari track and a third place finish last time out has reinforced that the South African is one to watch during the 2021 season.
Team-mate McPhee will be looking to right the wrongs after his first race of the season was brought to an early conclusion through no fault of his own. Demonstrating his fast pace by joining his team-mate on the front row of the grid, the Scot will be fired up to walk away from the DohaGP with a podium finish, or at the very least a good haul of points.
Moto3 will kick off proceedings at the Grand Prix of Doha with Free Practice 1 on Friday at 1.50pm local time (6.50pm MYT), with the 18-lap race due to start at 5pm local time (10pm MYT) on Sunday.
The QatarGP was such a good weekend: pole position and a podium to finish it off with! I’m really happy with my first GP with PETRONAS Sprinta Racing. So now I’m really excited to do another weekend here. I’m hoping that on race day the weather is a bit better, with less wind than last Sunday. I think that would make the race a little more interesting, because last time it was a bit like a battle to survive and stay out of the wind. I feel really good and just looking forward to trying to do the same thing this weekend.
