KTM CONTINUES TO DOMINATE IN OFF-ROAD COMPETITION

Press Release
March 1, 2005

The KTM Off-Road Team had a great weekend as Juha Salminen took the win in the WORCS series and Kurt Caselli took over the points lead, Andy Grider and Chris Blais sprinted away from the competition to place first in the SCORE San Felipe 250, and Mike Lafferty placed third in the AMA National Enduro.

WORCS Series; Round 3
San Antonio, TX

San Antonio was exposed to the elements as over three inches of rain blanketed the area before the third round of the WORCS series. Luckily, the sun came out an hour before the two hour pro event and the KTM riders were ready to dominate.

Kurt Caselli blasted his KTM 250 EXC to the front of the pack and took the holeshot and continued to lead the race 20-seconds faster than any other competitor. One of the newest racers in the WORCS scene is Finnish rider, Juha Salminen who fell in the third turn and had to battle his way to the front. At the halfway point, he had passed many of the sports finest racers and was chasing KTM teammate, Kurt Caselli. With a commanding lead over the rest of the field, Kurt and Juha were pulled over for a quick pit stop, and then released for an intense battle for first place. Juha closed in on Kurt, found a better line and was able to get past him for the overall win. Kurt is leading the points in the series.

SCORE San Felipe 250

Future Red Bull KTM Dakar Teammates, Chris Blais and Andy Grider and substitute rider, Cody Buellton competed in the Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 race this past weekend and upset the Honda power-team of Johnny Cambell and Steve Hengeveld.

Andy Grider anchored the talented KTM team, and passed Cambell on the side of the road, changing his front tire less than 10 minutes from the finish. The team of Blais, Buellton and Grider completed the course with a time of 4:21:21. This was over 12 minutes faster than the seasoned second place team. This is the second time that KTM has competed in the Tecate SCORE series, but this is their first win.

Chris Blais said, "This is unbelievable to think that we could come down here and upset the great team of Henegeveld and Cambell. I couldn't believe it when I saw our big, orange KTM coming out of the dust first. Andy rode another great race and pinch hitter, Cody did a super job coming down here on a last minute notice after our scheduled third rider, Kellon Walch broke his leg pre-running for this event."

AMA National Enduro; Round 2
Arizona

Six-Time AMA National Enduro Champion, Mike Lafferty piloted his KTM 400 EXC to a third place finish in the Desert Mountain National Enduro this past weekend. In perfect riding conditions, Mike was the front runner of the pack. At check five, he made a mistake that cost him four points and the lead. He was then barely edged out of second place by Honda rider, Matt Stavish.

Rounding out the top five were KTM mounted, Bill Russell and David Lykke, both riding their powerful KTM 250 EXC's.
