Chilly Southern California Prepares for 2009 Supercross at Angel Stadium

In the pre-race press conference in Anaheim, California Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship (wow, can that title be any longer?) riders faced the press to answer questions about a series that lacked some luster in 2008. The ’08 season saw the absence of ultra fast, crowd favorite James Stewart as well as the vacuum left by former Champion Ricky Carmichael.

2009 sees several changes, including Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto stepping up to the 450 class. For ’09 we finally see the return of James Stewart, this time on a Yamaha – a change he told everyone at the press conference is for the better. Chad Reed, who had the 2008 Championship ‘handed to him’ with the departure of Carmichael and Stewart moves to Suzuki, bringing his #1 plate along for the ride. Hard working all around nice guy Kevin Windham remains with Honda.

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship series kicks off at Angel Stadium, Saturday January 3rd, and should provide some excitement with four top riders in the game.
